Mr Daniel McDonough (MPH) is a proud family and Kaurna man from the Adelaide Plains, South Australia.  
 
Daniel is researcher with a passion working in Indigenous Adolescent Health and Wellbeing both nationally and globally. Daniel has experience providing cultural awareness competence safety training and evaluating Aboriginal services. He has extensive experience in community engagement and working closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth and communities.
 
Daniel aims to better understand the health wants and needs of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and develop responsive actions to address these health gaps. He aims to do this by promoting public health advocacy for young people and enable communities to translate health research into meaningful action. He is focused on developing a greater understanding of the social and cultural determents of health for Aboriginal communities.

Daniel aims to conduct meaningful research to promote positive health outcomes on a local, national and global scale. He endeavours to promote youth advocacy, engagement and leadership by working alongside and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people within youth governance and Aboriginal communities.

Further to this, Daniel has worked across several Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander projects and has over 10 years’ experience in the disability sector for the Department of Human Services, working in various management roles and advocating for people with disabilities.

Generating evidence to inform responsive and effective actions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adolescent health and well-being: a mix method protocol for evidence integration 'the Roadmap Project'

Australia does not have a national strategy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adolescent health and as a result, policy and programming actions are fragmented and may not be responsive to needs. Efforts to date have also rarely engaged Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in co-designing solutions. The Roadmap Project aims to work in partnership with young people to define priority areas of health and well-being need and establish the corresponding developmentally appropriate, evidence-based actions.
